Richard Faulds on yoga for men:
“Although it can be practiced quite vigorously, Kripalu Yoga is not designed to be a ‘killer workout.’ It’s a practice that enhances health, helps get you back in touch with your feelings and focuses the mind. Practiced regularly, Kripalu Yoga initiates a transformative process that opens the heart and expands awareness.
“The big issue for myself and many men is staying intimate with what we are feeling. Even the word ‘intimate’ used in reference to one’s self pushes buttons in the male gender role. Life’s very real challenges have led so many men to lose touch with their bodies, shut down emotionally, and get stuck in rigid ways of thinking and being.
“Because it is so effective at bringing a man back in touch with himself, Kripalu Yoga can be an extremely powerful practice for those men wanting to awaken to deeper levels of their being. Yoga can break the shell of alienation from the self and help a man regain sensitivity and emotional balance. This is not an easy process; it’s the hero’s journey into the face of fear and feeling through the body. The end result is a man that is strong and sensitive. This has been my experience, and that of many other men I have known.”
