Becoming familiar with the branches and limbs of the tree of yoga is the first and most important step in demystifying yoga. Now that you understand the broad way in which the system of yoga is organized, you can pursue whichever aspect of it you wish. The chapters that immediately follow will introduce you to particular approaches to hatha yoga.
These and subsequent sections provide information on specific yoga practices and techniques, such as physical postures, breathing exercises, mantra recitation, and meditation, so that you can begin to practice yoga yourself as you feel ready.
